In this lesson, students will read about a boy and his sneaker collection.  

CONTENT OBJECTIVE: I can use terms like take away, fewer, left, and difference to describe changes in amounts.

WIDA Standard 4 (Math): Subtract within 20; connect pairs (2) to total count.

WIDA Standard 2 (Language Arts): Explain changes using take-away language and equal groups (pairs).

WIDA Standard 1 (Social/Instructional): Use frames (e.g., “He had ___ pairs; he gave away ___; now he has ___.”).
