Step One Science: Life Science 1.2: Plants

This is the second Life Science path in the Garbanzo Academy. In this path, students learn that plants are living things that grow, change, and need sunlight, air, water, and space to survive. Students identify plant parts and their functions, explore different habitats where plants grow, and discover how plants make seeds and begin new life.

Through both expository texts and short stories, students learn to observe patterns in plant growth and understand relationships between plants and other living things. The path builds key vocabulary and concepts for multilingual learners through structured repetition and accessible language.

This path aligns with WIDA Standard 4 (Science) and supports Standards 1 and 2 as students use language to sequence, describe, and explain plant structures and growth.
