Step One Science: Life Science 1.1: Animals

This is the first Life Science path in the Garbanzo Academy. In this path, students explore what makes animals living things and learn about the many kinds of animals in our world. Through simple informational texts and engaging stories, students discover how animals move, where they live, and how they meet their needs for food, water, and shelter. They observe and describe patterns in animal life cycles and behaviors such as migration, hibernation, and camouflage.

Designed for multilingual learners, this path uses repetition, visuals, and clear academic language to build understanding of animal groups, survival needs, and habitats while supporting English language development.

This path aligns with WIDA Standard 4 (Science) and also integrates Standards 1 and 2 through sequencing, description, and compare/contrast language tasks.
