It's ACTFL week!
This year, Garbanzo partnered with our sister company The Comprehensible Classroom to offer TWO workshops centered around teaching for acquisition and comprehensible input.
If you’re ACTFL-bound, we hope to see you at both, because these are workshops you don’t want to miss.
The best news? They’re at the same time on Friday and Saturday, and in the same place each time!
Workshop 1:
Am I asking the right questions?
Friday, November 22, 2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Exhibitor Room 1
Why do we ask questions in language class? Because it’s a SUPER EFFECTIVE way to impact both growth in proficiency *and* conscious learning of topical knowledge, not to mention a great strategy to quickly engage students.
In this session, learn how to combine questioning and target language communication to support comprehension, while taking a deep dive into the variety of questioning strategies and question types relevant to the language classroom.
Workshop 2:
Reading: What, Why, and How (with The Comprehensible Classroom)
Saturday, November 23, 2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Exhibitor Room 1
Workshop Description:
Reading is fundamental to supporting language acquisition. In this session, you will learn why reading is so important, what types of texts learners should be reading (even beginners!), and simple low or no-prep strategies for reading together, experienced as learners.
